Under the supervision of the Program Director, in partnership with the San Francisco Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH), the candidate will provide mentoring and support to individuals who have been recently housed in scattered site housing through the Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool Program. Clients may be struggling with one or several of the following: mental illness, substance use disorder, poverty, legal issues, discrimination, and experience in the homeless response system. The Candidate works with clients individually and in group settings with a focus on peer counseling, housing navigation and support to maintain housing. Candidate applies personal experience as a consumer of mental health services and the homeless response system.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (may include specialty certificate: CADC, mental health certificate, peer specialist certificate in related field) and 1 or more years of relevant work experience
* One year of experience in a health or social service field
* At least 2-3 years of 'lived experience' within the community behavioral health system and/or criminal justice system, preferably in San Francisco
* An understanding of mental health issues and sensitivity toward mental health clients
* Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately
* Ability to work as part of a team, to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and work independently in a high-pressure environment
* Good problem-solving skills
* Ability to work with clients and program staff from diverse cultural and social class backgrounds
* Able to lift 50 lbs and climb stairs
* Knowledge of computers and software including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook email
* Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability

Preferred Qualifications:

* Acquiring knowledge of Patient Rights & Responsibilities, Joint Commission Standards, and Centers for Medicare/Medicaid regulations. Knowledge of Medical terminology, knowledge of data collection, compilation and analytical techniques
* Skills to comprehend and assess patient's grievances to quickly locate appropriate resources for assistance
* Solid interpersonal and customer service skills, ability to be diplomatic and organized; ability to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgement
