POSITION PURPOSE:

To help support design and demo needs, as well as dive maintenance needs, for animal enclosures and work in accordance with the US Navy Policies and Protocols for the Navy Marine Mammal Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:


  • Building and installation of on-water facilities in support of the Navy-Marine Mammal Program.
  • Regular underwater maintenance for Sea Lion Enclosures and Dolphin Pens.
  • Occasional travel to support operations at additional locations in Kings Bay, GA and Bangor, WA.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:


  • Able to lift 75lbs wet from water to dock.
  • Able to work independently within a set time window.
  • Ability to swim above and under water.
  • Strong swimming skills.
  • Must pass yearly dive test and physical.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:

Education and Experience:


  • Highschool diploma or GED.
  • A minimum 2 years of general construction experience.
  • Able to complete Forklift and Diver certification after hiring which includes passing dive physical.


Skills and Abilities:


  • Knowledgeable with dive equipment and construction tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.


Special Requirements:


  • Able to take direction from multiple leads and handle constructive criticism well.
  • Understands the importance of safety and working according to safety standards.
  • Must be able to receive a security clearance and pass a DOD background check (history and finances).
  • Ability to work around holidays if necessary.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Able to read blueprints
  • Dive certification
  • Forklift Certified
  • First AID/CPR Certified


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Must be able to lift 75+ in weight from water to dock.
  • Able to bend and maneuver (Pull, Push, Twist, Bend, Standing) around platforms that are located on the water and moving with the wake.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Indoors, outdoors, on water, on boats, under water. Windy conditions and Rain.
