Software Engineer

Microsoft
$84,200.00 - $165,200.00 / yr
United States, Washington, Redmond

Overview

Clipchamp is Microsoft's video platform, helping people and organizations create, edit, and consume video through simple, accessible experiences backed by a scalable services layer. The team supports millions of customers and continues to grow as video becomes an essential part of modern productivity.

Clipchamp delivers AIpowered video creation and understanding experiences used across Microsoft 365. These experiences are built on distributed media and AI pipelines that ingest, process, transform, summarize, and deliver customer content in near real time. In this role, you will design, build, and operate backend services that sit on the critical path of these workflows, where reliability, latency, and correctness directly impact customer experiences at global scale.

The team builds reusable platform capabilities-including services, APIs, and feature components-that enable scenarios such as meeting highlights, media ingestion and storage, templates and assets, and rendering and encoding workflows. Engineers use telemetry, experimentation, and customer feedback to continuously improve quality, reliability, and reach across multiple Microsoft surfaces.

Clipchamp is part of the Microsoft Office Productivity Group (OPG), a globally distributed organization. The team works across time zones and locations and is committed to building inclusive, collaborative engineering practices that support flexible ways of working.

Our engineering work spans highscale backend services and media workflows, with distributed systems for media ingestion, processing and encoding, metadata, and delivery. The backend is built primarily in C#/.NET using a serviceoriented architecture on Azure, with work across data storage, messaging, and media processing pipelines supported by strong observability and automated deployments. Frontend experiences are built using React and TypeScript.

AI is rapidly transforming video from a manually produced medium into something people can generate, edit, summarize, and repurpose quickly. In this role, you will help build and scale the backend services that make these AIdriven video experiences reliable, secure, and broadly available, while also using AIassisted tools in daytoday engineering work.

Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

This role is targeting an immediate start date.
