Overview

The Web Shared UX team builds the foundational frontend experiences that powerCopilot across Microsoft 365. Our work enables consistent, highquality AIdriven interactions across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office surfaces on the web.

As aSenior Software Engineer, you will focus on building andmaintainingcustomerfacing UX components and systemsthat are shared across Office apps.You'llwork closely withDesign, Product Management, and partner engineering teams across Office Sharedto deliver polished, accessible, and reliable Copilot experiences atmassivescale.

Responsibilities
  • Build, ship, andmaintainfrontend UX features and shared componentsfor Copilot experiences across Microsoft 365 on the web.
  • Leverage and contribute toFluent UI and other shared UX libraries, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and high visual quality across surfaces.
  • Partner closely withDesign and Product Managementto translate designs and product intent into highquality, productionready experiences.
  • Collaborate with engineers acrossOffice Shared and app teamsto integrate shared UX systems into partner workflows.
  • Writeclean, maintainable, and welltested code, with attention to performance, reliability, and longterm ownership.
  • Participate in the team'sDRI/oncall rotation, helping ensure the health, availability, and fast recovery of shared web experiences.
  • Contribute to a culture ofengineering excellence, thoughtful code reviews, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Scienceor related technical field AND4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with React and modern web development.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Scienceor related technical field AND6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • ORBachelor's Degree in Computer Scienceor related technical field AND8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in buildinghighly availablesystems at scale.
  • 4+ years of experience with React and TypeScript in production applications.
  • 4+ years of experience building and maintaining shared libraries or component systems.
  • Experience with web accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA) and building accessible components.
  • Experience with initial component development through to production deployment.
  • Experience inleveragingAI to increase development productivity.
  • 1+ years of experience applying AI or machine learning techniques to develop scalable solutions.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
