Summary
The Patient Coordinator manages incoming calls from individuals seeking to establish care with a behavioral health provider and assists callers in determining appropriate services based on their clinical needs. This role requires knowledge of behavioral health providers at the Medical College of Wisconsin as well as other community resources in order to provide appropriate referrals when needed. The Patient Coordinator is also responsible for registering and scheduling patients for their initial appointments, verifying insurance benefits, and obtaining any required prior authorizations to ensure timely access to care. Qualifications
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis. Minimum Required Education: Associate Degree Minimum Required Experience: 2 years Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field Preferred Experience: Prior experience in a clinical setting, combined with a demonstrated interest in supporting the mental health needs of individuals. Familiarity with community resources and social services is a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Physical Requirements
Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously. Work Environment
Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment. Sensory Acuity
Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects. #LI-AC1
