Senior Accountant

S&ME's Finance team, out of our headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, is adding a Senior Accountant to support ongoing growth and operational needs.

As a Senior Accountant, you will play an essential role in ensuring accurate financial records, reliable reporting, and strong compliance across the organization. This position supports the Accounting department by managing key accounting functions, maintaining clean and consistent financial data, and helping ensure timely closes and regulatory requirements are met. Your work will contribute to the daytoday stability and reliability of the company's financial operations.

Your Day-to-Day:



  • General Accounting & Close Processes: Manage account reconciliations, prepare journal entries, oversee general ledger accruals, and lead accurate and timely monthend and periodend close activities in accordance with GAAP.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and analyze financial reports, support annual budget planning, and provide meaningful insights, forecasts, and projections to guide business and departmental decisions.
  • Tax, Compliance & Regulatory Support: Handle local tax filings, sales and use tax returns, annual property tax filings, and ensure compliance for ESOP and 401(k) plans, contributing to smooth yearend processes.
  • Asset, Cash & Balance Sheet Management: Oversee fixed assets and lease schedules, perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, monitor and forecast cash flow, and maintain stock and related schedules.
  • Audit Support, Strategic Planning & Leadership: Support internal and external audits, evaluate and improve accounting processes and controls, assist with acquisition analysis, prepare boardlevel materials, and collaborate with senior leadership to align financial strategy with company objectives.



What You Bring:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of 5 years of General Ledger experience
  • Proven Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) knowledge and experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software programs
