Summary:

Provides hands-on learning opportunities for students enrolled in accredited healthcare education programs. Under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, assists with basic clinical and operational tasks appropriate to their level of training while gaining practical experience in patient care environments. Supports the delivery of safe, high-quality care while reinforcing clinical knowledge and skills acquired through formal education programs.

Responsibilities:


  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Assists licensed clinical staff with patient care activities appropriate to the student's level of training and scope of practice.
  • Observes and participates in clinical procedures and care activities under direct supervision.
  • Supports clinical staff with basic patient care tasks such as preparing equipment, transporting patients, or assisting with room setup.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation as directed and appropriate for the role.
  • Demonstrates adherence to infection control, safety, and patient privacy standards.
  • Participates in learning experiences designed to reinforce clinical knowledge and technical skills.
  • Follows organizational policies, procedures, and professional conduct standards.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors and clinical staff regarding patient care activities and learning needs.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information and organizational data.
  • Performs other support duties as assigned consistent with educational program requirements.

Requirements:

Education:


  • Currently enrolled in an accredited healthcare training or professional education program relevant to the clinical discipline (e.g., Nursing, Surgical Technology, or related field) required.
  • Completion of at least one year of coursework or clinical training within the applicable program required.

Experience:


  • No prior professional experience required.
  • Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or may be required by the educational program.

Skills:


  • Basic understanding of clinical practices and patient care principles appropriate to the educational program.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision in a clinical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Basic knowledge of infection control and patient safety practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and adherence to established procedures
