Job Purpose

The Calibration & Repair Technician I is responsible for the calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electronic laboratory equipment used in battery and energy storage testing. This role supports safe, reliable, and compliant operation of test systems by performing hands on equipment repair, diagnostics, calibration, and documentation in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform calibration of electronic laboratory test equipment using recognized metrology practices, written procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electronic battery testing equipment at the component, sub assembly, and system level.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a broad range of electronic test equipment including battery cyclers, power supplies, load banks, data acquisition systems, sensors, and associated instrumentation.
  • Perform functional verification and re calibration following repairs to ensure equipment is operating within specification prior to return to service.
  • Conduct failure analysis on malfunctioning equipment, documenting root cause, corrective actions, and preventive recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate calibration and repair records, including as found/as left data and full traceability in accordance with quality requirements.
  • Interface with external calibration and repair vendors to resolve technical issues and coordinate outsourced services Support laboratory operations by assisting engineers and technicians in isolating equipment related test anomalies during battery testing.
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime and improve system reliability.
  • Follow established procedures and SOPs to maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and internal quality requirements.
  • Make recommendations for replacement parts, equipment upgrades, and improvements to calibration or maintenance processes.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new or modified battery test equipment.
  • Comply with all safety, PPE, and environmental health requirements when working with energized equipment and hazardous materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Physics, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent military or technical training.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of hands on experience in calibration, metrology, electronics repair, or test equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in electronics, troubleshooting, and basic electrical or engineering principles.
  • Fundamental understanding of calibration principles, laboratory processes, and electronic measurement techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience calibrating and repairing battery testing equipment such as cyclers, power supplies, electronic loads, and environmental testing instrumentation.
  • Experience with calibration software and tracking systems (e.g., Fluke MET/CAL, IndySoft).
  • Familiarity with calibration of pressure gauges, dataloggers, thermocouples, multimeters, temperature and humidity equipment, and timers.
  • Experience with troubleshooting communication interfaces (e.g., CAN, RS 485, Ethernet, USB).
  • Soldering and electronic rework experience on through hole and surface mount components.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 requirements.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors.
  • Risk of electrical shock.
  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
