Job Summary:

This role will be responsible for assisting the senior analysts on the team with the following:

  • Preparing financial, operational, and business-related analyses for NRG's Retail business.
  • Preparing financial cost forecasts based on inputs from business owners and historical and expected trends
  • Monitoring on-going expenses for accuracy and results compared to forecast
  • Compiling and prepared financial performance reports and communicating results to business owners
  • Working closely with Sales team to build a true cost-of-sales metric

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring general ledger activity on a monthly basis
  • Perform financial analysis to determine and communicate cost drivers and performance
  • Work with Sales team to update processes as needed based on analysis findings
  • Aid in forecasting selling and operating expenses for sales teams
  • Support business owners with financial related research and / or cost scenario planning
Working Conditions:
  • Hybrid 4 days in office, 1 day remote (Friday)
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or economics from an accredited college or university required
  • 0-3 years of experience in a financially focused or data analysis role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Excel and its basic functions (filtering, sorting, math functions)
  • Exposure to simple financial models that calculate ratios based on a set of facts.
  • Obtains general knowledge of accounting concepts (income statement, general ledger, accruals, debits and credit)
  • Exposure to general ledger accounting systems and/or financial reporting systems is a plus.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to manage and organize workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with guidance and oversite from senior members of the team
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements
  • Obtains problem-solving skills and is detail oriented.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences in both written and oral form.

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
