Job Description:

Description

Skyworks Solutions' GaAs Advanced Technology Group (ATG) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Device Technology Engineer to support the development of industry-leading III-V semiconductor technologies for next-generation RF microelectronics products. This role includes expanded responsibilities requiring experience with GaAs, GaN, and InP epitaxial development, TCAD, end to end device exploration-from physics-based simulation and predictive modeling through RF measurement, data correlation, and performance optimization-while partnering closely with process integration, design, reliability, and manufacturing teams. Success requires deep technical mastery, the ability to innovate beyond established methods, and a disciplined, schedule driven approach to maturing device technologies on aggressive timelines.

You will be a key contributor in a high-energy device technology development environment and will assume responsibility for leading independent development projects. As a Skyworks ATG employee you will have a unique opportunity in steering technology and laying the path for Skyworks' future success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive device epitaxial development to define, evaluate, and optimize Compound Semiconductor epitaxial structures for advanced device development.
  • Identify performance limiting mechanisms and propose innovative device or process modifications to improve speed, linearity, efficiency, breakdown, noise, and reliability.
  • Extract and analyze data to discover underlying causes of device behavior and develop creative solutions for improved device and/or processes.
  • Assist Design teams with understanding of device/circuit performance interactions.
  • Partner with manufacturing engineering to ensure device technologies are robust, repeatable, and ready for high volume production.
  • Prepare technical documentation, publish results when appropriate, and represent the team in internal and external technical forums.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or related field, with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in compound semiconductor devices (MS and 8 yrs or PhD and 5 yrs also acceptable).
  • Recognized expertise demonstrated through peer reviewed publications, conference presentations, or equivalent technical contributions.
  • Strong background in semiconductor device physics and III-V technologies.
  • Proficiency in TCAD tools (e.g., Synopsys Sentaurus, Silvaco Atlas).
  • Strong knowledge of ADS, Momentum, HFSS, and Cadence tools.
  • Experience with device epitaxial design, device characterization, and modeling.
  • Experience in RF layout practices, DRC/LVS, parasitic extraction (PEX), and EM-coupled layout techniques is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and statistical analysis skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in RF/microwave device design/modeling methodologies.
  • Hands on work with GaN, GaAs, InP, or other III-V device technologies.
  • Experience transferring device or process technologies into high volume manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of IC-CAP, MATLAB, Python; C/C++/PEL.
