What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking an experienced Senior Track Civil Engineering/Project Manager Lead for our Facility & Industrial Group within our Transportation Practice.

This role would require an individual to have project management experience with large multi discipline freight developments and expansions. It would also require leading and supporting the growth of the group supporting facility & Industrial freight developments through GFT's national practice. With this being a national practice position, the individual could office out of one of our many existing office locations, and/work remote as well.

With the continued growth of our freight facility & industrial practice, this role is set up to build with utilizing current staff and bringing in new staff. This position will be supported by the national freight & rail lead, along with the other group leads within the practice.

As part of a national practice team of freight, rail, and civil specialists, you will provide professional services to Freight, and Industrial, clients across North America. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering project excellence, cultivating strong client relationships, and mentoring staff to foster technical and professional growth.

In the capacity, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic guidance and leadership to ensure the successful delivery of freight facility & industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Client Management: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and contractors, ensuring clear communication and project alignment.
  • Technical Leadership: Utilizing experience in managing multi discipline facility and industrial projects from conceptual development through final design and construction. Have the ability to think through and provide alternative ideas and solutions to project issues and appropriately communicating directly with the client and or the contractor through the process.
  • Detailed Design Lead: Coordinate and lead the development of freight served facility detailed designs.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Oversee collaboration between all disciplines of the project including track, civil, drainage, utilities, process, MEP, and structural teams, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Review project submittals for accuracy, compliance with standards, and technical quality. Coordinate the review process with the other project disciplines.
  • Project Management: Manage all aspects of project delivery, including scope development, schedule adherence, cost control, and risk management.
  • Team Mentorship: Mentor, develop, and build staff, fostering growth in technical and project management capabilities.
  • Proposal Development: Lead and contribute to the preparation of technical and financial proposals for new business opportunities.
Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil Engineering preferred) from an accredited university, or 15+ years of experience with freight facility & industry developments.
  • Proven expertise in railroad served facility design & developments.
  • Extensive experience with design and construction project delivery and client-facing roles.
  • Strong understanding of track and overall site design multiple disciplines.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of key railroad codes and standards, including AREMA, and other relevant industry guidelines.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets related to track performance and maintenance.
  • Experience with MicroStation/Bentley ORD, and related software is an asset.
  • Strong skills in preparing technical reports, design summaries, and documentation to support project deliverables and stakeholder communications.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 to effectively plan, execute, and monitor project progress.
  • Knowledge of Agency Codes and Standards, along with railroad client standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver results under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
  • Desire to build and grow a team

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $225,000 - $250,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
