Job Description

The Head of Reserving manage and conduct US Operations and Runoff reserve related projects including review and analysis US Operations and Runoff segments reserves

This is a 100% in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of quarterly analyses of gross and net reserves for the US Operations segment.

  • Lead the execution of semi-annual analyses of gross and net reserves for the Runoff segment.

  • Manage and develop staff responsible for performing US Operations and Runoff reserve reviews.

  • Coordinate quarterly close activities with US Operations accounting and group accounting as needed.

  • Prepare materials used in quarterly US Operations and Runoff reserve meetings and provide input to other reporting processes (Reserve Committee meeting material, quarterly reserve position walk, material for Group Audit Committee, etc.).

  • Communicate reserve review results to business unit leaders.

  • Assist the Chief Reserving Actuary in presenting reserve review results at quarterly reserve meetings.

  • Interact with US Operations pricing, underwriting, claims and finance areas to improve processes and communication between the areas.

  • Interact with IROC and Risk Management runoff claims and finance areas to improve processes and communication between the areas.

  • Manage preparation of quarterly loss related GAAP disclosures and production of annual loss triangles included in the 10K.

  • Lead Group technical provision calculations and produce associated actuarial opinions and reports.

  • Coordinate production of quarterly capital model inputs for US Operations and Runoff.

  • Continuous improvement of data, processes and reports to increase the efficiency of the US Operations and Runoff reserving and close processes and associated reporting

Qualifications / Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics or other related field frorm an accredited college or university

  • 15+ years property/casualty insurance experience, with 10 years specifically in reserving.

  • Detailed knowledge of GAAP reporting requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of property/casualty insurance.

  • Advanced knowledge of property/casualty insurance.

  • Ability to manage, develop and motiviate a team of professionals performing highly complex tasks.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work with various data software such as SQL, VBA and Power BI.

  • Experience with ResQ

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will becommensuratewith candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost oflaborin that location.In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

  • Omaha, Richmond, and Albany Pay Range: $171,000 - $225,000
  • Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City Pay Range: $171,000 - $245,000
