The APRN Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner's primary role with the Admissions Team will be reviewing incoming clinical and medical considerations to ensure timely and appropriate placement of applicants for Newport Healthcare treatment facilities. This includes review of documentation, consultation with clinical and medical team members, risk assessment, case summary, and clear documentation related to operational approval and medical clearance for admission readiness.

Additionally, this individual will support the Patient Access team in ongoing quality improvement efforts, leveraging their medical experience and expertise to help strengthen the Patient Access department and mission. This person will work closely with interdisciplinary team members (i.e. Physicians, Nursing, Therapy, Admissions) to consistently determine admission disposition and assist in smooth transitions of care.

Key Performance Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments for applicant patients, and/or receive and reviewcompleted assessments from other Patient Access Clinicians.
• Conduct record reviews of clinical and medical screening questionnaires, clinical or hospital treatment records, referent-provided information, and any other collateral provided regarding the application for treatment.
• Consult with senior providers(e.g., physician or medical director) for cases requiring additional insight or decisions outside scope.
• Speak with external stakeholders, referents, providers, or family members in order to gather clarifying information related to medical conditions and patient needs.
• Make independent clearance decisions, based upon presenting medical condition and safety profile, and approve patients for arrival to treatment program for intake.
• Maintain accurate documentationof all medical clearance decisions and consultations, following department and organizational standards.
• Collaborate with Patient Access leadership to identify trends, risks, and process improvement opportunities.
• Support the department's goal of timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate clearance decisionsto facilitate patient admissions.
• Ensure compliancewith organizational policies, professional standards, and applicable regulations.
• Participate in training, quality reviews, and team meetingsas required.
• Track and monitor key metrics, including volume of medical clearance requests, turnaround time for decisions, clearance approval/denial rates, and other trends or data points as requested by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, License Requirements:

• Requires Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
• RN License: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in a state which Newport Healthcare provides treatment services (CA, WA, UT, MN, CT, VA, NC, PA, MA)
• APRN License: State licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a state which Newport Healthcare provides treatment services (CA, WA, UT, MN, CT, VA, NC, PA, MA)
• Board Certification: PMHNP-PC (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Board Certified) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
• Minimum of 2 years previous experience in psychiatric patient screening, intake assessment, risk evaluation, and medical triage required.
• Minimum of 2 years previous experience in an advanced psychiatric psychiatric clinician role, within hospital, partial hospital, or residential treatment setting preferred.
