Responsibilities

Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital (LBHH) is a 126-bed, inpatient psychiatric hospital joint venture between Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and Universal Health Services.

In addition to a general adult unit and dedicated adolescent unit, the facility offers services for treating those with co-occurring disorders on the psychiatric-medical unit, an intensive adult unit to care for those with severe conditions, as well as a women's trauma unit.

How will you make a difference at LBHH?

The Financial Counselor is responsible for verifying insurances and financial counseling for self-pay accounts.

The Financial Counselor is responsible for completing the following duties and tasks:

  • Verify insurance benefits for all admissions & calculate patient financial obligation: IP, PHP, IOP.
  • Meet with patient and/or family to discuss their financial obligation.
  • Follow up on self-pay accounts (after insurance).
  • Obtain patient deductibles/coinsurances and/or copays and enter into the billing system.
  • Research account issues and problems, answers billing inquiries, and attempts or assists with dispute resolution.
  • Works in conjunction with the billing staff to ensure clean billing.
  • Handle paper mail and answer internal emails.
  • Maintains patient demographic information.
  • Verify authorizations if needed.

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED is required. Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
