Texas NeuroRehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres. We have served the Austin community for over 60-years and are proud of our history and tenured leadership team.

Today, Texas NeuroRehab Center provides complex medical and brain injury rehab for ages 13 years and older and neurobehavioral residential treatment services for children and adolescents. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges.

Texas NeuroRehab Center is currently accepting applicants for a Lead PCT. This candidate will assists in the direct care & management of child and adolescent patients with medical & behavioral issues as directed by the treatment team. Assists with unit programming to facilitate the carryover of therapy issues, leisure activities, & activities of daily living within the functional ability of patients & with consideration for the patient's level of growth & development.

Qualifications

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Demonstrates a Trauma Informed approach and is a champion of this in their interactions with patients and staff. Displays an understanding of the basic concepts of safe, supportive, nurturing, & therapeutic human interactions. Demonstrates understanding of program and philosophy and is able to translate this into patient care. Displays an active interest in learning. Demonstrates creativity and problem solving skills. Demonstrates leadership by training new employees. Effectively interacts with patients, peers, & families. Demonstrates ability to follow behavior program. Actively implements and supervises therapeutic & recreational activities. Understands & practices effective motivational techniques. Demonstrates consistent ability to problem-solve & communicate clearly, both verbally & in writing. Demonstrates compliance with attendance policy.

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent. Prefer bachelor's degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth & development.

EXPERIENCE:No minimum. Prefer one year's experience as a nurse's aide, mental health aide, psych aide, or the equivalent in a rehabilitation, psychiatric, or similar setting.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Current CPR certification. Current in all required training.

PHYSICAL/GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Sustain physical activity throughout scheduled shift. Remain on feet throughout shift. Physically able to restrain patients per policy by individual or team restraint. Lift, carry, & lower 50 pounds without assistance. Push patients in wheelchairs up & down hills & pursue running patients. Transfer patients to & from beds, toilets, automobiles, & wheelchairs. Confront a dangerous & aggressive patient. Verbally communicate to deescalate a crisis situation. Accurately convey patient behavior & status, both verbally & in writing. Visually observe patient behavior & act to protect self & others from aggressive patients or accidents. Write legibly & grammatically to convey patient behavior & information in the chart. Assist in patient care from prompting up to total care in patient hygiene (i.e., bathing, diapering, dressing, etc.). Eat with & feed patients following diet orders & speech therapy program. Attend work regularly, on time, & as scheduled, according to facility policies. Hear & see sufficiently to perform essential job functions.
