The Position

Storekeeper I is the entry level classification in this series. Individuals receive training and experience in storekeeping duties and perform basic duties under supervision. These classes are alternately staffed. Individuals normally advance to the Storekeeper II classification after gaining experience and achieving proficiency that meet the requirements for the higher level classification.

Under general supervision, the Storekeeper I keeps stock records; receives, stores and issues materials, supplies, tools, parts or equipment used in a large water distribution and wastewater treatment utility; loads and unloads pipeline construction supplies and other materials; operates a variety of material handling equipment; and performs related work as required.

The salary range is $6,903 per month increasing to $7,248, $7,610 and $7,990 after 12, 24, and 36 months, respectively.

Requirements

1.Completion of the twelfth grade, or its equivalent, and no experience

In addition to the requirements listed above, candidates must possess physical characteristics to perform the critical and important duties of the job, including dexterity, stamina, and physical strength to load and unload materials of various bulk and weight, including lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Candidates should also be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and work overtime as needed. Candidates must possess a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

The Selection Process

1.Submit a completed EBMUD application and the required supplemental question responses online at www.ebmud.com by 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2026. 2.Candidates must achieve a passing score on each test part in order to advance to the next step in the selection process.

3.Application materials will be reviewed and those applicants meeting the minimum requirements will be invited to a written test, scheduled for late May 2026. Candidates who received a passing score on the written test will be invited to a panel interview tentatively scheduled for mid-June 2026.

4.Successful candidates will be placed on the hiring list, based on rank, for further consideration to fill the current regular vacancy, as well as others occurring over the next 12 to 24 months.

5.The probation period for this position is 6 months. For those holding civil service status the probation period is 6 months.

6.All employment offers are conditional, pending the results of a Live Scan background screening. All selected finalists must participate in the Live Scan background screening process to remain in consideration for EBMUD employment.
