Vizient Inc. has ranked NYU Langone the No. 1 comprehensive academic medical center in the country for three years in a row, and U.S. News & World Report recently placed nine of its clinical specialties among the top five in the nation. NYU Langone offers a comprehensive range of medical services with one high standard of care across 6 inpatient locations, its Perlmutter Cancer Center, and over 320 outpatient locations in the New York area and Florida. With $14.2 billion in revenue this year, the system also includes two tuition-free medical schools, in Manhattan and on Long Island, and a vast research enterprise with over $1 billion in active awards from the National Institutes of Health. Position Summary: The Department of Radiation Oncology at NYU Langone Health is seeking a clinical medical physicist to join our team at our Perlmutter Cancer Center outpatient facility in Manhattan. This is an excellent opportunity for a physicist to practice in a collaborative, patient-centered environment with meaningful clinical responsibility while being part of a large, multisite academic radiation oncology program recognized for clinical excellence, innovation, and education. The physicist in this role will primarily support the clinical operations of our outpatient radiation oncology practice at Perlmutter Cancer Center in Manhattan and play an integral part in the safe, precise, and effective delivery of radiation therapy. Working closely with fellow physicists, radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists, the successful candidate's contributions will include, but not be limited to, quality assurance, chart review, equipment oversight, and the continued advancement of high-quality clinical care. The Perlmutter Cancer Center Manhattan outpatient facility offers the advantage of a busy and robust practice with strong local physics support and close integration within a broader department that values close collaboration across campuses and shared standards of excellence across the health system. This position offers the opportunity to combine meaningful local clinical responsibility with the resources and collegiality of a broader department spanning Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Long Island. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative physics and radiation oncology team and will have opportunities to engage with colleagues across sites in clinical problem-solving, program development, and departmental initiatives. The department also includes a CAMPEP-accredited Medical Physics Residency Program, providing opportunities for teaching and mentorship. Our department has an innovation focused and experienced team consisting of 26 faculty and staff physicists, 26 radiation oncology physicians, and 21 dosimetrists. The Perlmutter Cancer Center Manhattan outpatient facility hosts 7 physicists and has 3 TrueBeam linacs, 1 MR simulator, and 1 CT simulator, and the wider system offers access to a diverse and advanced technology platform consisting of a total of 7 TrueBeam linacs, 1 Ethos linac, 1 Elekta MR linac, 1 GammaKnife, 1 Radixact, 3 CyberKnifes, 3 Bravos HDR afterloaders, 4 CT-simulators, 1 PET/CT-Simulator, and 1 MR simulator.
