Description

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an associate cad operator to join our team in the Pittsburgh, PA office within our Power Generation sector and Water Resources Group. The successful candidate will enjoy working on civil engineering water resources projects in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment that will utilize their college education and related work experience to develop professionally into a well-rounded engineer with the ability to grow in today's global environment. This is a temporary full-time position at 30-40 hours a week and up to a 6-month duration. Additional schedules will be considered. Required skills include critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, team focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real-life problems.

Job Duties:

Assist engineers and project managers with day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include:



  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic Analysis and Design
  • Assist in Civil Engineering design and calculations for water, wastewater, and stormwater components of new development, modification or remediation projects.
  • Assist in water/wastewater process and pipeline design projects for industrial and municipal clients (power plants, steel manufacturing and data center/mission critical facilities, etc.).
  • Participate in technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications, and technical plans.
  • Filling out and completing permit applications for processing.
  • Field work may include water sampling, site inspection, and construction administration support including completing field observation reports.
  • Historical Document Review and Cataloging
  • Data Management and Analysis
  • Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Quality Control Plans
  • Construction Cost Estimates
  • Owner's Engineer Support During Construction
  • Field Investigations
  • Daily/Weekly Construction Inspections
  • Earthwork Construction Quality Control
  • ESC Inspections
  • SWPPP Inspections
  • Environmental Monitoring

Education



  • Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School


Technical Responsibilities



  • Basic 2-D line work and text edits. Plot and create PDF drawings. Perform red-line edits.Follows basic QA/QC procedures. Assist with general office function such as printing and folding drawings


Project and Task Management



  • Responsible for personal task management and adherence todeadlines and scope


Management Responsibility



  • No Management responsibilities
  • Close supervision on work assignments


Communication Skills



  • Possess basic oral and written communication skills. interacts effectively with other staff. Learns to master and accurately follow instructions from others
