Research Associate

Professors Richard Lee, Patricia Frazier, and Alex Ajayi are seeking a Research Associate to assist with their independent and collaborative research projects. The research associate will be primarily supervised by Professor Lee, but will work with all three faculty and take work direction from the other two, as appropriate. The Research Associate will be responsible for leading research projects under the direction of each faculty with priority given to data management, statistical analysis, and manuscript writing. Current research projects include a meta-analysis of the relationship between workplace violence and well-being among healthcare workers and studies of the relations between childhood trauma and sexual risk behaviors (Frazier); longitudinal study on impact of COVID-19 and racialized violence during COVID-19, social identities, discrimination, and adjustment in college students, and cultural, ethnic, and racial experiences of international adoptees and families (Lee); and a longitudinal study of identity and well-being and a mixed-methods study of ethical, legal, and social implications of emerging biomedical technologies (Ajayi). The faculty also are interested in developing new collaborative projects. Appointment will be made at 75%-time, ending July 31, 2027.

The work environment will primarily be in-person, with some flexibility for limited hybrid work.

Responsibilities, with the percentages of duties outlined:

• Conducting statistical analysis (50%) including bivariate analyses (e.g., correlations), multivariate analyses (e.g., various forms of regression analyses), multilevel modeling (e.g., 3- and 4- level multilevel modeling for meta-analyses), and qualitative coding and analysis (e.g., thematic analysis)
• Manuscript preparation (25%) including literature reviews, writing sections of manuscripts, creating tables
• Research consultation (15%) including consulting with undergraduate and graduate research assistants on research methods and statistical analysis
• Study design (10%) including involvement in all phases of the design of new studies. This includes reviewing relevant literature, identifying gaps in the literature, designing research questions to address those gaps, and developing methods to test those research questions.

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS in psychology or related field plus at least two years of experience or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least 6 years.
• Proficiency in multivariate statistics
• At least one year of research experience in one or more faculty labs

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in and ability to independently conduct statistical analyses using R
• Peer-reviewed publication record
• Familiarity with and commitment to open science
• Research interest and experience in stress/trauma, marginalized populations, interventions
• At least 1-year FT research employment after college graduation or 1-year experience conducting independent research (e.g., honors thesis)
