Role Objective

The Stockroom Sourcing Specialist will purchase MRO and supply items from identified key suppliers and build and maintain strong relationships to ensure tiemely deliveries and competitive pricing. This role will demonstrate ability to effectively utilize SAP purchasing systems and a proven track record of analyzing data to identify trends, optimize inventory levels and evaluate supplier performance. They will perform cost-benefit analysis by valuating the cost-effectiveness of different purchasing options and making informed decisions. Assess and mitigate risks associated with procurement, such as supplier reliability or price fluctuations.

They will work closely with other departments (e.g., production, maintenance) to understand their needs and coordinate procurement activities. Assist with supply chain issues by identifying and resolving disruptions or shortages and will support process optimization by seeking ways to improve procurement processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency. Remain updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in procurement.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Procurement:

    • Purchase MRO and supply items to ensure timely availability and meet Supply Chain demands.
    • Research and identify vendors offering optimal pricing, delivery, and lead times.
    • Oversee purchase order processes, including monitoring vendor performance and following up on orders.
    • Negotiate with vendors to secure favorable terms and pricing.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to prevent stock-outs and identify alternate products.
    • Collaborate with Global Sourcing for high-value purchases.


  • Inventory Management:

    • Review, reconcile, and address discrepancies in parts and equipment purchases.
    • Adhere to budgetary restrictions and ensure purchases align with established guidelines.
    • Evaluate the performance of parts and equipment to assess their efficiency, effectiveness, durability, and need for continued use.
    • Analyze historical purchase data to identify trends and optimize future buying decisions.


  • Stockroom Operations:

    • Oversee, in the absence of the Stockroom Supervisor, stockroom operations, including layout, counter service, receiving, and categorization of items.
    • Facilitate efficient receiving processes by selecting appropriate shipment methods.
    • Ensure proper storage and organization of inventory.


  • Vendor Management:

    • Set up vendors within appropriate systems to streamline payment processes.
    • Coordinate with contractors to ensure necessary paperwork is completed before on-site work.
    • Communicate with suppliers regarding price changes and product obsolescence.


  • Communication and Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with Accounts Payable to establish vendor accounts.
    • Communicate with Maintenance Supervision, METs, and Engineering to identify alternative products.
    • Work with Global Sourcing for high-value purchases.
    • Maintain open communication with suppliers to address issues and ensure timely delivery.




Qualifications:



  • Strong understanding of purchasing and supply chain management principles.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and tools.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


Education and Experience

* Associates Degree in Business or related field, or a high school diploma with three (3+) plus years of experience in equipment or parts inventory management.

* Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Supervision/Coordination

Directs, coordinates, and reviews work tasks of Production Maintenance Supply Coordinators. Serves as a backup for Stockroom Supervisor in their absence.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected starting pay for this role is between 43,000.00 - 59,200.00 per year. Within this range, an offer will depend on factors such as level of experience and technical competencies relevant to this specific role, as well as internal equity considerations.
