Job Description

Allstate is looking for a Full Stack Product Engineer (Java) to join our growing Employee Experience team to support the Enterprise Shared Services. Enterprise Shared Services supports a high performance, user-centric culture that empowers our people to deliver valuable products to our customers. We drive quality through use of Extreme Programming (XP) techniques including test-driven development, continuous integration & continuous delivery.

The internal job title for this role is Software Engineer Senior Consultant I.

What You Will Do

Work alongside engineering team members and product managers. Strategizing and building projects at every stage, ensuring that the projects are completed efficiently, correctly, and on schedule. Encourage and influence best coding standards and practices per product engagement of the teams you collaborate with.

In this role you would help to define and deliver the engineering lifecycle of one or more emerging products; this includes the contribution to product roadmaps, identification of assumptions, and contributing to the technical/architectural decisions. Additionally, you would also be encouraged to actively participate in our learning culture including coaching and mentoring staff, stakeholders, and peers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside our Managing Engineer and Digital Product Managers to help manage the product engineering strategy for products in our growing digital product portfolio.

  • Contribute to the product backlog, by completing stories, identifying bugs and inefficiencies in the code, and striving for the best written solutions possible.

  • Adhere to the documentation discipline, educates team around engineering processes, andassists in defining the product engagement environment to enable its success.

  • Use customer feedback, detailed market analysis, and data gathering to provide recommendations on decisions about product engineering strategy.

  • Participate in a paired programming environment to build quality, scalable business solutions

Qualifications

  • 3 years or more of professional experience in software development, preferably in a production environment. (Or equivalent)

  • Experience in full-stack development, with Java/Spring Boot for backend services and React for frontend applications

  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable systems

  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows

  • Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, or distributed systems

  • Working knowledge of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) and data modeling (Or Equivalent)

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD deployment pipelines (Or Equivalent)

  • Understanding of testing practices, including unit, integration, and automated testing

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is 85,000.00 - 145,075.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
