| Primary Purpose of Position |
This position serves as the Athletic Eligibility Certification Specialist, with responsibility for coordination and oversight of all aspects of the eligibility certification process on behalf of the Office of the Registrar.
Activities include: daily processing of eligibility for prospective, initial, transfer, and continuing student-athletes to ensure strict compliance with
NCAA Division I and Conference regulations while also maintaining the integrity of student-athletes' academic records; ensuring that student-athletes meet both institutional degree requirements and the complex regulatory standards set by the
NCAA; and serving as the primary certifying authority for student-athlete eligibility on the academic side - separating academic verification from the Athletic Department's operational interests.
Develops and maintains fluency with a variety of databases and systems (
ARMS, Banner, DegreeWorks, WebFocus, etc.) to support student-athlete eligibility determinations. |

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

| Essential Job Duties |
This position will:
- Evaluate and certify the prospective, initial, transfer, and continuing academic eligibility of student-athletes in strict accordance with NCAA bylaws, Conference rules, and institutional regulations.
- Maintain an expert-level understanding of current NCAA legislation, interpretations, and sport-specific requirements to ensure departmental compliance.
- Analyze degree audits and transcripts to track Progress Toward Degree (PTD). This includes identifying and resolving potential eligibility risks throughout a student-athlete's career.
- Conduct comprehensive eligibility evaluations for high school prospects and prospective transfer students (utilizing processes such as ARMS).
- Review, verify, and submit critical national data, including Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR) metrics.
- Analyze changes to academic records-such as degree program swaps, grade changes, or course substitutions-to determine immediate and long-term ramifications on eligibility status.
- Identify and track student-athletes subject to additional or sport-specific NCAA legislation (e.g., Summer Required Activities Academic Exceptions for Football and Basketball).

| Other Work Responsibilities |
- Collaborate with the Athletic Academic Center, Athletic Compliance, and the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) to lead certification meetings and develop success strategies.
- Partner with the Office of the Registrar and DegreeWorks specialists to ensure official academic records, including AP credits and dual enrollment transcripts, are accurate and up-to-date.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring of full-time enrollment status, including specialized tracking of international student-athlete regulations (e.g., the 9-hour rule) to maintain visa compliance.
- Prepare and organize internal eligibility documents and certification packets for final review by the FAR and Compliance office.
- Consult with various academic colleges on campus to facilitate the evaluation of transfer credits and course waivers.

- Prior experience with NCAA eligibility regulations, such as compliance, academic advising, or student services within the Office of the Registrar.
- Working knowledge of NCAA regulations gained through prior work experience in athletics or student services at a Division I institution, at a Division I conference office, or at the NCAA national office.
- Prior experience with Teamworks/ARMS, Banner, and the NCAA Eligibility Center.
- Previous experience as a certifying officer or a position with certification responsibilities for an NCAA Division 1 institution.
