The Electronic Systems Engineering group is seeking students majoring in Electrical and Computer engineering. Interns will assist engineers in the design, analysis, build and test of electronics for space flight. Tasks may include hardware design (board, FPGA and embedded software), test script development, and environmental test conductor. Interns will support prototype hardware testing for NASA's Dragonfly mission and a hypersonic missile defense mission. Interns will gain valuable experience in the implementation of complex electronic systems. The Electronic Systems Engineering group is responsible for spacecraft electrical systems and avionics. Staff routinely collaborate on projects across the sector and the lab. Our largest projects are space-borne avionics for challenging missions, including electronics for command and data handling (C&DH), data storage and encryption, custom co-processors, signal processors and controllers, and spacecraft interfaces. We are active throughout the development lifecycle, from supporting mission concept development, to requirement definition, detailed design, fabrication, assembly and test. The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
