What to Expect
Tesla seeks an Engineering Technician to ensure materials meet quality standards through electrical and mechanical testing. This role involves identifying and resolving quality issues andcollaborating with production and engineering teams.
What You'll Do
- Conduct inspections, audits, and testing for product and process evaluation
- Drive investigations and root cause analysis for quality issues
- Collect and analyze mechanical and electrical test data with engineering teams
- Manage and disposition non-conforming materials
- Validate new product designs, equipment, and processes with engineering teams
- Assist with PFMEA and control plans to address manufacturing risks
- Analyze production data to identify at-risk or non-conforming materials
What You'll Bring
- Experience in quality and process control within high-volume manufacturing
- Proficiency in problem solving and root cause analysis techniques
- Skilled in using test and measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, and DMMs
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, knowledge of GD&T
- Understanding of basic statistical methods
- Experience with SQL, Python, Minitab/JMP, SolidWorks/Catia preferred
- Strong technical communication skills in a dynamic environment
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
