We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Andrea H. Bild, PhD, Professor in the Department of Medical Oncology & Therapeutics Research and leader in translational systems biology and precision oncology. The Bild Laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms that drive therapeutic response and resistance in cancer. Our multidisciplinary research integrates molecular biology, pharmacology, genomics, computational biology, and translational oncology to identify actionable signaling networks and develop predictive biomarkers that improve patient outcomes. The successful candidate will contribute to projects focused on understanding and targeting resistant cancer traits using advanced experimental and systems-level approaches.

As a successful candidate you will:

  • Lead independent studies investigating the molecular, cellular, epigenetic, and signaling mechanisms underlying intrinsic and acquired treatment resistance in solid tumors.

  • Design and perform molecular, cellular, and pharmacologic experiments using cell-based, ex vivo, and patient-derived cancer models.

  • Characterize oncogenic pathways, adaptive cellular states, and resistance-associated vulnerabilities to identify promising therapeutic targets and combinations.

  • Integrate molecular, genomic, transcriptomic, epigenetic, and phenotypic data to uncover actionable drivers of treatment response and resistance.

  • Develop and validate predictive biomarkers of therapeutic outcomes, including blood-based genetic and epigenetic assays and methylation-based tests.

  • Advance translational studies that support precision oncology clinical trials and biomarker-guided treatment strategies using City of Hope's patient specimens, genomic technologies, single-cell platforms, computational resources, and clinical collaborations.

  • Collaborate with basic, computational, and clinical investigators and present findings at laboratory meetings, institutional seminars, and scientific conferences.

  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact journals and contribute to grant applications.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • PhD, MD/PhD, PharmD, or equivalent doctoral degree in Cancer Biology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Systems Biology, Bioengineering, Computational Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in cancer biology and molecular signaling.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Cell culture and functional assays
    • Molecular biology techniques
    • CRISPR or genetic perturbation approaches
    • Genomics, transcriptomics, or single-cell technologies
    • Pharmacology and drug response studies
    • Bioinformatics or computational analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience studying therapeutic resistance in cancer.
  • Familiarity with signaling pathway analysis and biomarker development.
  • Experience with systems biology approaches.
  • Knowledge of translational oncology and precision medicine strategies.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaborations bridging laboratory and clinical research.
