Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned) The Manager Engineering Project Management - Transformer Specialist oversees Calpine's Transformer Reliability Program for all transformer assets and will be a technical authority for all types of transformers. Key responsibilities include technical guidance on maintenance and testing of distribution and large power transformers, technical lead for repair projects, provide guidance for diagnostic tests (oil, power factor, SFRA, etc.), internal inspections, factory inspections and audits and conducting root cause analysis for failures to ensure reliability and safety. This position will provide technical liaison between the plants and Calpine management as well as technical leadership to both internal and external entities. The successful candidate will also work with others to manage critical spare transformer components and accessories to be held in inventory. Responsible for developing execution plans to achieve project milestones and to minimize costs for several different project areas. Establishes project strategy and monitors critical path schedules and deliverables. Ensures all projects are executed in a manner that supports established strategies. May provide oversight for Project Managers, and selects, develops, and evaluates staff to ensure efficient operation of the Engineering Project Management function. The position will also involve mentoring and training junior engineers.
