Salary: $58,200 - $92,000

What your job will be like:

Prepare and assemble SRF cavities for cold RF testing or insertion into cavity stings maintaining adherence to and completion of work control documents. Use and maintain ultra-high vacuum systems used in the cavity production process. Use and maintain surface polishing tools. All work may include materials that fall under radiation control regulations.

In this job you will:
  • Repair and prepare flange surfaces for sealing purposes using polishing tools and hand polishing techniques. Maintain the polishing workspace to provide a safe working environment.
  • Work with S&T staff to ensure the cavities being tested for R&D purpose will meet any assembly specifications.
  • Coordinate with other departments for logistical considerations while moving cavities through different work centers. This will include the use of tooling appropriate for handling the cavities during movement.
  • Work in ISO 4 clean room environment to assemble and helium leak check cavities for production projects and high-power testing.
  • Work in CEBAF tunnel as needed for installation of components and vacuum systems.
Experience
  • Required: 5 or more years relevant experience
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience and Education Exchange

Education above the minimum may be substituted for experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to use residual gas analyzers and interpret results for leak checking in vacuum.
  • Ability to operate an overhead bridge crane and other material handling equipment.
  • Working knowledge of clean rooms and clean room protocols.
  • Understanding of UHV systems and associated practices.
  • Ability to use various hand tools for mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to perform mechanical assemblies in an ISO-4 clean room.
