Department 938 is hiring Quality Assurance Representatives at Electric Boat's Quonset Point Facility in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. This position will report to the Supervisor of Ship Certification and indirectly to the Director of Submarine Safety, Deep Submergence Systems, Fly-By-Wire Ship Control Systems and Quality Assurance (QA).

The Quality Assurance Representative plays a hands-on part in maintaining and advancing critical safety and quality standards tied to the Quality Management System and SEP Programs (SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC and FBW SCS) for work accomplished at the Quonset Point Facility.

In this position, you will provide technical support across SEP programs, stepping into problem-solving situations, investigations, and certification efforts. You'll be closely connected to both planning and execution teams, ensuring quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

    Review, modify, and implement Quality procedures to improve consistency and compliance
  • Certify the following: Material Quality, Controlled Pipe Joints (CPJ), Mechanical Join Records (MJR), Structural Welded Joint Records (SWSS), and Re-entry Control
  • Review Quality related drawings and specifications
  • Perform NAVSEA audits (Phase I, Phase II, Functional, and NAVSEA 08)
  • Support ISO certification audits for the facility
  • Participate in internal quality investigations
  • Interface regularly with internal and external customers

Candidates should have strong interpersonal and communication skills as this role requires influence without authority and the ability to challenge issues when standards are at risk. You should be comfortable operating in environments where precision, documentation, and accountability are non-negotiable.

Location and schedule:

This role is based at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.

This is a second shift position from 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
Candidates must be able to work an alternate schedule, including weekends as required to support business needs.

Candidates must be willing to travel as required for Audits (~10% of time or less)



Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of performing document reviews and quality checks on records in accordance with company procedures
  • 2+ years of Microsoft Office programs or equivalent
    Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the DoD

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of Quality Assurance or deckplate construction support experience
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and/or electronic "drawings"
  • Experience with a variety of NDT (MT, PT, RT, UT) and inspection documentation (SWSS/ERS weld tickets, CPJ 905 cards, 2552's, RUT's, Ripouts, etc.)
  • Experience with EB's electronic systems including CPJ, ERS and 7G
  • Experience with Artemis, MRPII, Electronic Desktop, Business Objects and TeamCenter
  • Previous military experience
  • Training in quality auditing and/or quality management
  • Knowledge of SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, and FBW SCS certification requirements
