The Business Managerwill report to the Chief of Staff and partner across HR, Recruiting, Finance, Procurement, and the leadership team. This is an entry-level role designed for someone who is curious, detail-driven, and eager to build a broad foundation in business management. You'll get exposure to the full surface area of how a business runs - operations, finance, vendor management, headcount, communications, and culture - and over time you'll deepen in the areas where the business needs you most. We're looking for someone who can adapt to the priorities shift and grow with the role.

Responsibilities

Business Operations & Rhythm of Business

  • Support the day-to-day rhythm of business:prepare forstaff meetings and leadership reviews, capture action items, follow up on commitments, and help keep the operating cadence on track.

  • Recommend process improvements as youlearnthesystem andhelp document and standardize how the team runs.Develop and create business processes and tools to continuously improve organizational efficiency. Look for new opportunities to enhance ongoing engagements to improve overall interaction with team members.

  • Contribute to cross-team projects and special initiatives as needs evolve across the organization.

Headcount & Workforce Operations

  • Perform headcount administration:maintainthe personnel number system,validatefunding alignment, and keep org dataaccurateas the team hires, transfers, and grows.

  • Track open requisitions in partnership withAdmins andRecruiting; support hiring managers with pipeline visibility, interview loop coordination, and offer status.

  • Support onboardinglogisticsfor new hires so every new team member starts strong.

Communications

  • Execute the internal communications rhythm: All Hands, AMAs, newsletters, leadership FYIs, and team-wide announcements.

  • Support production ofteam content - partner decks, event materials, results summaries, and the team SharePoint - so messaging is consistent and on time.

  • Supportdevelopmentof executive communications and presentations under the direction of senior business managers.

  • Develop ongoing strategic plans for when and how communications should be shared.

Training, Compliance & Culture

  • Drive role-based and compliance training completion; partner with HR to track scorecards and close gaps.

  • Plan and execute traininglogistics, including scheduling, registration, attendance tracking, and feedback.

  • Support culture initiatives -Recognition, Microsoft Poll response actions, offsites, and morale events - in partnership with HR and the leadership team.

Finance, Budget & Vendor Management

  • Support the annual budget process under the direction of the Chief of Staff and Finance partner.

  • Partner with Procurement to onboard vendors, manage statements of work,monitorcontract renewals, and ensure vendor deliverables and invoices stay on track.

  • Track financial progress to date against budget and flagvariances early.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 1+ year(s) of experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles.
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements arerequiredfor this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will berequiredto pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ yearsof experience in business operations, program/project coordination, finance or HR operations, communications, ora relatedfield (internships count).
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft 365 - Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams without losing track.
  • Knowledge ofbudget tracking, purchase orders, or vendor/procurement processes,headcount, hiring, or workforce planning processes.
  • Experience producing internal communications or executive-ready content.
  • Comfortoperatingin a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with cross-group collaboration.

Business Management IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $70,500 - $125,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $95,000 - $142,400 per year.
