Hill International is seeking a Scheduler in San Jose, California The Scheduler is responsible for project coordination work in a variety of schedule development, schedule analysis, and other project control activities including cost and fund controls related to transportation capital projects.
- Prepares and updates project master schedules, detailed working schedules and schedule reports, workaround plans, and related schedule reports. Scheduler will be responsible for regular updating of project schedules (80 to 100 active projects).
- Coordinates activities of the Project Controls Unit with other departments, divisions and staff.
- Prepares and directs the preparation of a variety of progress reports.
- Coordinates with project managers on contract change orders.
- Reviews Contractor's baseline schedules and monthly schedule updates.
- Conducts Time Impact Analysis of change order impacts.
- Provides scheduling requirements in construction contract documents.
- Principle and practices of Project management and control systems as applied to engineering and construction projects.
- Cost engineering, estimating, cost accounting, grant and funding.
- Project management and control including the "earned value" method of integrated schedule and cost control, as applied to engineering and construction projects.
- Construction methods, rates of work and production, and CPM scheduling methods to produce independent and valid construction schedules.
- Contract administration and construction management.
- Analyze project cost control and contractor schedule work sequences and project schedule problems and develop effective solutions.
- Coordinate cost control activities with project managers, consultants and contractors, and other departments, divisions, and VTA staff.
- Utilize project control software (Primavera 6, Unifier, Microsoft Project) for project schedule and cost control as well as contract administration purposes.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, on technical, financial, and management information.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with representatives of Federal, State, regional, and local agencies, consultants, contractors, vendors, and the general public.
- 2 to 5 years experience on engineering and construction capital projects.
BS degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building/Construction Management is preferred. - Strong background using Primavera P6 scheduling software, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with construction schedules for the design-build phase of the projects.
- Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling knowledge/experience.
- Experience with time impact analysis.
- Construction claims and change order experience is preferred.
- Experience integrating the construction schedule into the master schedule.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- In depth knowledge of construction practices and sequencing.
- Must be local to San Jose; full-time onsite position.
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $135,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.
