The Automation and Process Control Engineer role is based in Beloit, Wisconsin (on-site role).

Where You'll Make a Difference

  • Design, configure, test, and commission process control systems, including Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers, to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize control strategies, including Proportional-Integral-Derivative control loops, to improve process stability, reliability, and performance.
  • Serve as the site subject matter expert for process automation systems, instrumentation, and control technologies.
  • Lead and support automation, modernization, and capital improvement projects, including system upgrades, commissioning, start-up activities, and lifecycle management.
  • Partner with manufacturing, operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement effective automation solutions.
  • Maintain and enhance human-machine interface systems, operator graphics, and related visualization tools to improve operational effectiveness and user experience.
  • Troubleshoot and support plant-wide automation infrastructure, including control systems, data historians, instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.
  • Participate in and lead investigations related to automation and control system events, completing root cause analysis and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support for continuous manufacturing operations, including occasional off-hours support for critical automation and process control issues.

What Makes You the Right Fit

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Alternatively, ten or more years of directly relevant automation, controls, or process control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of five years of hands-on experience supporting industrial process control and automation systems.
  • Experience designing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Distributed Control Systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV or similar platforms such as Honeywell Experion or Yokogawa CENTUM.
  • Proven ability to develop and modify control logic, functional specifications, control narratives, alarm strategies, and system configurations.
  • Experience supporting chemical, biotechnology, food, or other process manufacturing operations utilizing continuous or batch processing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, control logic diagrams, and electrical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Process Safety Management programs, including Process Hazard Analysis and Management of Change processes.
