The Opportunity:
Mattel is seeking a Post-Production Accountant based in El Segundo, CA to support the Short-Form Animation content production and Post-Production teams. This role is responsible for managing financial records across these areas, ensuring accurate cost tracking and reporting, and supporting union-related payroll activities.
The Post-Production Accountant will work closely with cross-functional partners and provide direct support to the Director, Production Finance, contributing to weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting activities.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Manage the monthly cost reporting process for Localization, Distribution, and Short-Form Animation projects including Amplification projects for Brand, ensuring accurate actuals and reliable forecasts.
- Oversee high-volume short-form project trafficking and approvals, maintaining real-time project statuses across multiple systems and communicating updates to Production, Franchise Finance, and the Director of Production Finance.
- Create and manage vendor purchase orders and invoice approvals for short-form content within Mattel's business spend management system.
- Maintain current project costs and statuses within production accounting and project trafficking systems; prepare weekly payroll and cost projection export reports for the Director of Production Finance.
- Managethe monthly billback process for applicable internal Mattel teams and departments.
- Prepare monthly Oracle reconciliation reports for Long-Form Animation, Live Action, Development, and Film teams.
- Compile and deliver the quarterly Mattel TV Project Status Report for newly closed and active productions to global Finance and Production partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day collaboration with Localization, Distribution, and Short-Form Animation production teams, internal Mattel stakeholders, and external vendors.
- Act as a key liaison between Mattel Studios Production and Finance teams for all post-production and localization costs, including leading monthly long-form post-production cost review meetings.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in Entertainment Production Accounting, including extensive multi-currency and multi-location work
- 5+ years of experience in studio or corporate entertainment finance/accounting within a high-volume project environment, with the ability to develop or refine departmental processes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power Query skills; strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Project)
- Experience with union and non-union payroll, including IATSE, SAG, WGA, and DGA, as well as entertainment payroll residuals processes
- Proficiency in production accounting systems, including PSL, CAPS, C&P, SmartAccounting, and Movie Magic Budgeting
