Job Summary

The Machinist A is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machining equipment to manufacture precision aerospace components in a high-volume production environment. This role requires advanced machining expertise, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a strong understanding of blueprint interpretation, GD&T, inspection methods, and machining processes. The Machinist A ensures products meet strict quality, tolerance, and production requirements while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Set up and operate complex machining equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and manufacturing instructions to determine machining requirements.
  • Apply a comprehensive understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to machining and inspection processes.
  • Machine, hone, lap, and finish components to precise specifications and close tolerances.
  • Inspect workpieces and materials for defects prior to machining operations.
  • Verify product quality using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, air gauges, comparators, and other inspection tools.
  • Modify machine feeds, speeds, tooling, and offsets as required based on material and production requirements.
  • Replace worn tooling and make necessary machine adjustments to maintain product quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain production output and quality standards while adhering to established schedules.
  • Troubleshoot machining and production issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancement activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and support operational objectives.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.


Job Requirements



  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of seven years of machining, honing, or lapping experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, manufacturing routings, and work instructions.
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T principles and applications.
  • Experience maintaining close-tolerance dimensions on critical components.
  • Proficiency with dimensional inspection equipment and measurement techniques.
  • Knowledge of machining processes, production methods, and shop practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles and methods.
  • Ability to produce and inspect precision parts with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee).


Work Experience



  • Minimum of seven years of machining, honing, or lapping experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience with multiple machine tools and production machining methods preferred.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Eight or more years of machining experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting process improvements, manufacturing optimization, or re-engineering initiatives preferred.
  • Experience working in cross-functional team environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Experience using computer-based manufacturing tools and systems preferred.
