As a Security Guard Access Authorization in Norfolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. Join Allied Universal as an Access Control Officer in a dynamic campus location, helping manage entry points, monitor activity, and support a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. In this role, you will provide outstanding customer service, communicate clearly, and help to deter security-related incidents while working with a team that values agility, reliability, innovation, and integrity.

Pay Rate: $16.50 / Hour

Job Schedule:

What You'll Do:

Provide customer service by following site-specific policies, monitoring entry points, and supporting security-related procedures for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or vendors.
• Verify identification, credentials, and/or visitor access permissions while helping to control access to buildings, residence areas, and other restricted locations.
• Respond to incidents, unusual activity, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report details according to post orders and Allied Universal protocols.
• Monitor alarms, cameras, communication systems, and/or access control equipment, and document security-related concerns, maintenance issues, and visitor activity as needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and observe conditions that may require follow-up.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
