We are seeking a highly motivated Manager of Finance and Accounting to join our team in The Woodlands, TX office. This role is hybrid.

Job Summary:

The Manager of Finance and Accounting will oversee the general ledger, ensuring accurate, timely financial accounting. This role will also support internal and external reporting, oversee key audit activities, and lead the SOX process, including control documentation and testing.

In addition, the Manager's responsibilities will include preparing accruals for clinical and manufacturing activities and other high-risk areas, reviewing journal entries prepared by accounting staff, reconciling finished goods and other inventories, analyzing budget variances, and supporting R&D budgeting in partnership with department heads.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support the monthly accounting close by preparing certain entries (e.g. higher-risk clinical accruals, stock-based compensation entries, etc.) and reviewing other monthly journal entries and schedules prepared by staff/senior accountant(s).
  • Monitor progress against the close calendar.
  • Serve as point of contact with external auditors as part of the financial reporting and SOX audit processes. Coordinate and compile audit documentation as needed for external/SOX audits across key areas, including cash, prepaids, legal accruals, debt, allocations, etc.
  • Review/prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Review daily cash activity and review associated journal entries to maintain accurate cash reporting.
  • Generate and prepare monthly financial reports, including the trial balance, variance reports, and flash reports, to support internal and external reporting needs.
  • Prepare select SEC disclosures as required
  • This role has supervisory responsibilities.
  • Completes ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related field required
  • CPA Preferred
  • 4-6 years of public accounting experience or 5-8 years of industry experience in a public company
  • Proficient in GAAP; experienced in performing technical accounting research preferred
  • Experience with a large accounting system such as JDE, Oracle or SAP preferred
  • Experience with inventory accounting and/or clinical trial accruals preferred
  • Moderate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, filters, etc.) required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across a matrixed organization
  • Resourceful and proactive with strong detail orientation, analytical skills, and ability to drive projects forward
