Position Summary & Responsibilities:

This role is based in St Louis, MO and is not able to be fully remote. Candidates not based in the St Louis area must be willing and able to relocate to be considered for the role.

The Vice President, Software Engineering provides strategic leadership for the organization's software engineering function, driving the development and delivery of scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that support business objectives. This role leads Software Development teams, partners across the enterprise to align technology and business priorities, and fosters a culture of accountability, innovation and operational excellence.

  • Lead the strategy, development, and delivery of softweare products, platforms, and technology solutions aligned with business objectives.

  • Provide leadership and direction for software development teams, including talent development, organizational design, and succession planning.

  • Drive software architecture, scalability, cybersecurity, quality, and development best practices within defined scope.

  • Partner cross-functionally with key stakeholders and business partners to deliver organizational integrated solutions.

  • Establish and improve software development processes.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, cybersecurity, privacy and quality requirements.

  • Foster a culture of innovations, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, tools, and external partnerships to strengthen organizational capabilities.

  • Provide executive-level communication and reporting on software strategy, risks, and organizational performance.

  • Support customer, commercial, and operational needs through effective software lifecycle management and technical leadership.

  • Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

    • Advanced degree in Computer Science preferred.

  • 12+ years of Software Development experience including 8+ years of leading & managing software development teams.

    • Strong experience with agile development methodologies

    • Experience developing global products designed for international markets

    • Experience with multidisciplinary electromechanical hardware-software systems development

    • Experience within a regulated industry is strongly desired

    • Broad experience between embedded systems to cloud computing

    • Experience with multi-site team leadership and/or international team leadership is desired

  • Anticipated 15% travel is required

The estimated salary range for this role is between $250,000 - $335,000. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux's bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate's experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
