Position Summary:
The Department of History and Social Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking a dynamic full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor in Sociology with an anticipated start date of August 24, 2026. Responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate courses, scholarly activity, and university and departmental service. This is a one year, 9-month position with a salary of $50,000 per academic year. This also comes with $500 in professional development funds to be used for conference or research travel or other acceptable professional expenses in the 2026/27 academic year. Additional professional development funds are available at the college and university levels through application. Key Job Responsibilities:The primary responsibility will be teaching 7 undergraduate courses in the Department of History and Social Sciences, 3 in the fall, 4 in the spring. Potential courses to be taught include: Introduction to Anthropology, Introduction to Sociology, Social Inequalities, and an upper-level course of the candidate's choice.
