| Position Summary |
Provide leadership and support for the University Cablevision (
CATV) service as well as contribute to special projects for the Operations and Infrastructure team as necessary. This role serves as the primary technical lead for
CATV projects, ensuring systems align with university standards and meet all applicable regulatory requirements. This role also oversees game-day telecommunications operations at Sanford Stadium, helping ensure reliable service and support during major university events. |

- Knowledge of cable television systems, low-voltage cabling, and telecommunications infrastructure, including applicable industry standards, regulations, and best practices
- Skill in designing, reviewing, and approving technical infrastructure plans; developing specifications; and overseeing contractor work to ensure quality, compliance, and successful project delivery
- Ability to lead and coordinate large-scale CATV and infrastructure projects, collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely completion
- Skill in diagnosing and resolving technical issues, including providing real-time support in high-pressure environments such as game-day operations and critical events
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly, provide customer service, and develop user documentation to support system understanding and effective service delivery

Responsible for all technical, engineering, and operational aspects of the University Cablevision service.
a. Performs or directs the design and engineering of projects involving
CATV infrastructure.
b. Examines and provides input on
CATV infrastructure plans developed by outside designers, contractors, and engineers; responsible for providing final approval of technical plans.
c. Coordinates with members of other
EITS networking groups to obtain input on logical network design.
d. Generates, or works with contractors to generate, estimates for
CATV projects and proposals at the University of Georgia.
e. Writes technical specifications for
CATV installation projects performed for the University of Georgia to be included in Scopes of Work and/or bid documents.
f. Evaluates technical responsiveness of bid responses.
g. Supervises, coordinates, oversees, inspects, and approves work performed on the
UGA
CATV infrastructure, including
UGA and non-
UGA installers.
h. Inspects the final installation and works with installers to produce a punch list of items that must be addressed; ensures that all punch list items and other deficiencies are addressed properly before signing off on the completed project.
i. Ensures that installers follow industry, state, University, and local regulations and best practices.
j. Obtains and verifies that the required as-built and test documentation upon job completion and ensures that all work meets or exceeds requirements and specifications before signing off on the completed project. |

a. As workload permits, assist the wireless network team with programming, installation, and testing of wireless access points and low-voltage cabling. Training will be provided. |

Maintain the system in Sanford Stadium and other game day duties
a. Ensure all configurations and settings are appropriate prior to significant events in the stadium, in particular home football games.
b. Before the football season starts, work with Athletics to ensure that all TV sets in the stadium are properly programmed, working properly, and have acceptable signals.
c. Be present at the stadium for home football games to address issues as they may arise.
d. Ensure that all cable television settings for outdoor Athletic Association
VIP venues are properly configured. |
