Pay

$20.70 - $26.71 / hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (other hours as needed)

Job Summary

McKee Foods is seeking an FMLA Clerk to join our Employee Health Services team. We are looking for an advanced administrative representative to handle a variety of diversified duties within our employee health center, with a primary focus on managing the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) process for our associates. This individual will compose and initiate routine correspondence, resolve routine and complex inquiries, and support the department and associates in all aspects of leave administration and day-to-day office operations.

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for associates requesting FMLA and other medical leaves of absence
  • Processing, tracking, and managing FMLA requests, documentation, and approvals in compliance with federal regulations and company policy
  • Answering employee questions regarding FMLA eligibility, timelines, medical certifications, and return-to-work statuses
  • Answering phone calls and responding to emails inside and outside of the company
  • Entering and updating employee leave status and relevant information in Workday (HR information system)
  • Extracting information from systems through inquiries and running reports related to leave utilization and staffing
  • Attending various department meetings and taking notes (preferably on laptop), often on serious and highly confidential matters
  • Coordinating with department leadership regarding associate return-to-work accommodations and restrictions
  • Coordinating lunch for tours, wellness events, or other company activities
  • Providing support to Shared Services which may include providing employment and leave verifications
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience processing and administering FMLA and medical leave requests
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently, including effective follow-up and prioritization
  • Accuracy with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive employee medical records and personal information
  • Ability to type a minimum of 50 words per minute
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), business grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with the ability to proofread and edit
  • Strong customer service focus and interpersonal skills that promote teamwork, cooperation, and relationship building
  • Ability to work effectively and productively with minimal supervision, exercising a high level of initiative, independent judgment, and complex problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions while maintaining a professional attitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Gmail (searching, calendar functions, etc.)
  • Ability to organize office processes, business information, and schedules
  • Dependable with excellent attendance
  • Professional certification in FMLA administration or leave management (e.g., CLMS, CLA, or equivalent) required within two (2) years of hire.
  • Equivalent education, training, or certification in leave management may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Business Management, Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • 1-2 years of college (>31 semester hours) with 1 year experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (2 years of experience = 1 year of education)
  • Deep familiarity with FMLA guidelines, medical certifications, and short-term disability workflows
  • Experience with Workday or other HR/Leave Management Systems
  • Ability to type a minimum of 50 words per minute
  • Familiarity with process improvement techniques such as Lean
