About This Role

The Kansas State University - Olathe (https://olathe.k-state.edu/) kitchen operations team seeks a part-time Food Technician to support food stimuli production for a study being conducted at the University of Kansas, Lawrence (KU).

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, portioning, and packaging of standardized food stimuli to be used in a controlled research protocol. Work will primarily take place at the Kansas State University Olathe campus at a designated food preparation facility.

This role requires strict adherence to research food preparation protocols, strong attention to detail, quality control review, and effective communication with Supervisors at the K-State Olathe Food Innovation Kitchen and research staff at KU. The position will consist of monthly food stimuli production. Each month will consist of limited (up to 3 days per month), sequentially scheduled workdays and may include transportation of prepared materials to KU.

This position is ideal for individuals with training or experience in food science, food production, culinary training, and/or related disciplines.

This is a part-time position expected to begin in August 2026.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

* Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent)
* Valid driver's license and willingness to transport study materials between sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

* A bachelor's degree in food science or a related field by the start date
* 1 year of relevant experience in food production, food handling, or laboratory environments
* Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to standardized procedures.
* Strong attention to detail as evidenced by application materials and/or work history.
* Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
* Prior experience in food science, food production, or commercial kitchen environments.
* Training or coursework in food safety, food handling, or quality control.
* Experience working in research settings or regulated environments.
* Ability to work independently while maintaining consistency and accuracy.
* Flexibility and reliability in a part-time work schedule.

Additional Role Information:

* Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
* Work schedule will be Wednesday, Thursday, Friday the second week in the month

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
