Position Summary

Position Summary:

The Engineer I - Product Line Management supports the product lifecycle and commercial execution of Parker Precision Fluidics' components and systems. This role partners closely with the Product Line Managers, Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Quality, and Supply Chain to translate voice-of-customer (VOC) into product and portfolio actions, enable successful launches, maintain competitive positioning, and drive profitable growth through sound pricing, segmentation, and business analysis. The role helps manage portfolio health, supports new product introduction (NPI) and sustaining activities, develops market-facing content, and assists with operational and commercial alignment to meet customer, quality, delivery, and margin objectives in B2B industrial and manufacturing markets.

Interaction is primarily within Parker and core team or cross-functional internal teams.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for supporting assigned product managers and product lines (product, promotion, pricing, and channel) for a defined portfolio of products to drive sales and margin expansion

    • Monitors sales and margin results and tracks and recommends appropriate actions

  • Contributes to the development and management of product portfolio strategies

    • Help in the development of the multi-generational product roadmap process in line with division strategic Plans

    • Support Global Product Platforms

  • Supports product life cycle management of select product portfolio(s)

    • Contribute to the portfolio rationalization and SKU/variant governance in coordination with Operations and Engineering.

    • Manage complexity analysis & reduction and product end-of-life cycle.

    • Support engineering change notices (ECNs) and product change communications to internal and external stakeholders.

    • Develops and leads IME strategies (existing product innovations/modifications/extensions).

  • Portfolio Support & Positioning

    • Maintain portfolio documentation and literature including catalogs, technical bulletins, blogs, whitepapers, etc.

    • Maintain product roadmaps, positioning, feature/benefit summaries, and competitive benchmarking.

    • Monitors competitors' position, action and products

    • Develop and maintain sales enablement materials including presentations, product briefs, FAQs, and application guides.

    • Support training for Sales, Customer Service, and channel partners on product features, positioning, and target applications.

  • Voice of Customer (VOC) & Market Insight

    • Attend and contribute to customer visits, sales conferences, trade shows, and field feedback loops to validate requirements and performance expectations.

    • Collect, structure, and analyze VOC inputs from customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.

    • Support market segmentation and application analysis to identify growth opportunities and value propositions.

  • Develop product value propositions and be accountable for new product launches

    • Investigates market needs for innovative products and works with Engineering to appropriately prioritize product development efforts for the product line.

    • Defining customer requirements/needs and government & regulatory standards

    • Partner with Engineering and Program Management to translate VOC into product requirements, business cases, and launch readiness activities.

    • Support NPI gate deliverables such as requirements documentation, value proposition, pricing inputs, launch materials, and internal training.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) (or Professional Engineer (PE) certificate) in an engineering or science technical discipline. Professional entry level position. May have limited prior industry experience or have worked with direction in student internship programs.

  • Fundamental knowledge of engineering domain principles, concepts, and techniques.

  • General knowledge of industry products, customers, and related legal/regulatory requirements.

  • Fundamental knowledge of and use of basic engineering design and analysis tools (e.g. computer-aided design programs). Learns and utilizes specialized engineering databases; may require programming skills.

  • Develops familiarity with products and customer specifications and standards applicable to assigned product line or system.

  • Ability to communicate status of technical tasks and actions taken with clarity and precision.

  • Ability to work with general direction and instruction regarding the scope of assignments; determines the priority and order of assignments; and applies judgment in selecting procedures and techniques.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals and reports. Ability to present findings and information in both formal meetings and informally within and across Parker teams.

  • Travel up to 25%
