Job Description:

The Senior Manager, Sustainability Roadmap & Sponsorships is responsible for defining, as well as coordinating and providing technical/project management support, to implement Airbus' environmental roadmaps at sites across the US. In addition, they are responsible for leading the day-to-day management of the sponsorships and donations process across Airbus' sites and functions in the US.

Primary Responsibilities:

Environmental Business Integration Roadmap and Climate Adaptation (50%): responsible for defining, as well as coordinating and providing technical/project management support, to implement Airbus' environmental roadmaps at sites across the US. Support the global High5+ forecasts and reporting requirements, and ensure that progress updates are provided to site and regional leaders on a regular basis. Provide support to central sustainability on key climate adaptation projects, ensuring that priorities are covered and working with sites to share best practices.

Sponsorships management and process implementation (35%): lead the day-to-day management of the regional Sponsorships, Donations and Membership (SDM) process. Manage approvals in the Airbus MyIntegrity tool and provide timely feedback to requestors. Collect data on process implementation and project approvals. Prepare and provide regular reporting to the management team on a high level overview of regional SDM spend/activity. Coordinate regional projects aligned with the Airbus Foundation.

Internal engagement (10%): Maintain a network of Sustainability Ambassadors in Airbus Americas to support in driving sustainability awareness and engagement. Manage the Airbus Hub Sustainability page. Manage internal engagement one-off initiatives and events relating to sustainability.

Qualified Experience and Training:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor' Degree in science, sustainability management, marketing, business, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Preferred: Master's Degree in science, sustainability management, marketing, business, or a related field

    Experience:

  • Required: 10+ years of experience in project management within a complex industrial organisation, with prior experience working on sustainability topics.

Travel Required:

  • 10% - 20% Domestic and International

Citizenship:

  • Authorized to work in US

Qualified Skills:

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Required

  • Strong project management skills: ability to manage a wide range of projects and processes linked to Airbus' environmental roadmap and sponsorships and donations process; track-record of end-to-end project execution

  • Stakeholder management: ability to prepare for and execute regular and structured engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, including site leaders and members of senior management of Airbus Americas.

  • Sustainability knowledge and interest: knowledge of Sustainability roadmaps and decarbonization strategies, proven track record in developing and implementing sustainability strategies and initiatives.

  • Reporting skills: ability to synthesize complex processes and multiple timelines into clear, actionable reporting.

  • Analytical skills and financial acumen: ability to understand and review financial documentation in support of the environmental roadmap and as part of the review of sponsorship requests.

  • Communication skills: strong verbal and written communication ability

Complexity of the Role:

  • Accountability for project and roadmap delivery: accountable for both the strategic planning and successful execution of complex environmental projects at sites across the US.

  • End-to-end process management for Airbus Americas: responsible for the implementation of a new Regional Sponsorships and Donations process that will be rolled out throughout the US.

Level of Decision Making:

  • Strategic & Tactical: Strategic in regards to CAPEX decisions to improve the environmental metrics of Airbus sites. Tactical in the execution of these projects.

  • Impact: Directly impacts company-wide objectives.

This position has a solid line to the Director, Sustainability and Chief of Staff for Public Affairs & Communications.

  • Fluent written and spoken English.

  • Written, presentation and oral communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, as well as effective result-oriented problem solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite a minimum of 60%

  • Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

  • Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

  • Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

  • Equipment Operation: Daily use of personal computer, telephone, copier, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors.

  • Carrying: Daily able to carry documents, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Lifting: Daily able to lift documents,electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Pushing / Pulling: Daily able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

  • Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer

  • Squatting / Kneeling: Occasionally able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

  • Travel: Occasionally able to travel independently and at short notice.

  • Walking: Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
