The Manager, Finance Planning & Rates is responsible for strategic financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning activities, including assisting in the development of the Company's annual budget, five-year financial plan, and evaluation of regulatory and business initiatives impacting financial performance. Supports and coordinates regulatory proceedings before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), including preparation of rate case analyses, workpapers, discovery responses, testimony support, and other filing requirements. Provides guidance on regulatory accounting matters resulting from PUCO orders, settlements, and regulatory precedent, ensuring compliance with ASC 980 and applicable financial reporting requirements. Collaborate with other departments to implement regulatory outcomes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements following rate case and other regulatory proceedings. SOME ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Ensures capital investments included in rate base are appropriately reflected in regulatory filings and aligned with the Company's strategic and operating plans.
  • Assists in the development of the Company's annual budget, forecasts, and long-range financial plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives, capital investment strategies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports the development and execution of regulatory strategies designed to promote timely recovery of investments and operating costs through rate cases and other regulatory recovery mechanisms.
  • Coordinates and provides financial support for regulatory proceedings before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), including rate case filings, revenue requirement analyses, financial exhibits, discovery responses, testimony support, and other regulatory documentation; serves as a key witness as required.
  • Provides guidance on regulatory accounting matters and implementation of regulatory orders, settlements, and regulatory precedent in accordance with ASC 980.
  • Supports acquisition evaluations, due diligence activities, and other strategic initiatives through financial analysis, planning, and forecasting.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with regulatory agencies, outside legal counsel, consultants, and other internal Essential departments, serving as a key liaison on financial and ratemaking matters and ensuring successful implementation of regulatory outcomes.

What You'll Bring:

BA/BS Degree in Accounting or Finance required with a thorough understanding of accounting and tax concepts.

7-10 Years of Related Experience

5+ Years Supervisory Experience Preferred

2 Years of Managing Staff Preferred

SAP experience is preferred

This position requires extensive experience with Microsoft Office and spreadsheet software (Excel)
