About the Role

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering projects in a plastics compounding and extrusion manufacturing environment. In this hands-on role, you will help design, specify, troubleshoot, and implement equipment and systems that support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. You will work closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, purchasing, vendors, and contractors to move projects from concept through commissioning and startup.

What You'll Do

As an Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical support for electrical distribution, instrumentation, and control systems while helping improve plant reliability, safety, and operational performance.

  • Design, size, and specify electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment and systems for production and plant operations.
  • Prepare project specifications, data sheets, procurement documents, and bid evaluations.
  • Develop design criteria and coordinate construction or fabrication requirements through plans, details, and technical documentation.
  • Review drawings and documents prepared by engineers, drafting personnel, and vendors for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate procurement, expediting, receiving, and vendor communication for project materials and equipment.
  • Support equipment checkout, field pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, purchasing, vendors, and contractors to execute projects safely and effectively.
  • Work in accordance with company policies, safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and applicable electrical standards.
  • Support continuous improvement, operational excellence, and plant reliability initiatives.
What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, practical field experience, and the ability to collaborate across functions in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 3 years of experience in heavy industrial electrical and instrumentation/control engineering design, checkout, and commissioning.
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution, instrumentation standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Experience with DCS, PLC, SCADA/HMI control system software, hardware, and architecture.
  • Experience in applying electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, control systems, and variable frequency drives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on field experience with electrical distribution systems, instruments, and control systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering disciplines, craft employees, frontline supervisors, vendors, and operations teams.
  • Working knowledge of databases and electrical/instrumentation software tools is preferred.
Schedule

This is normally a Monday through Friday, Day shift position. Occasional after-hours support may be required based on project, maintenance, or plant needs.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The noise level is usually moderate in an office environment. Some work may be performed in operating units and may require required PPE, including safety glasses and hearing protection. The role may involve exposure to outside elements, use of stairs and elevators, and occasional travel by air or automobile.
