Job Description
The Batching Team Lead provides daily tactical leadership of Batching Operations, ensuring that all Service, Quality and Food Safety requirements are consistently met. This role is responsible for overseeing batching processes, verifying compliance with CCP's, regulatory requirements and MES/documentation standards. The batching team lead will serve as a backup for the Production Supervisor and Logistics Coordinator in their absence. This position reports to the Production Supervisor and has no direct reports.
Job Duties:
- Ensure all batching SOPs and SSOPs are followed accurately and consistently
- Assist Supervisor and Logistics team with CCP documentation related to batching, storage, raw material receiving, and finished product handling
- Maintain and update all daily batching and storage logs
- Oversee staging of ingredients and ensure lot code traceability for all batches
- Verify that Certificates of Analysis (COAs) are received and filed for all incoming raw materials (including internal coffees, teas, and other ingredients)
- Ensure batching and ingredient storage areas are organized, clean, and compliant with GMP standards
- Serve as backup to the Supervisor, communicating workload adjustments and production changes to the floor
- Support personnel and production scheduling as needed
- Serve as backup to the Logistics Coordinator for batching-related material movements
- Actively participate in shift transition to ensure smooth handoff of batching operations
- Act as liaison between Purchasing, Logistics, and Production to ensure ingredients and packaging are available for scheduled batches
- Coordinate ingredient movements between off-site warehouse storage and production floor needs
- Assist with year-end and period inventory counts for batching materials
- Develop and maintain documentation for batching processes and assist in training team members on batching procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- All other task as assigned.
Qualification
Qualifications:
- 1--2 years' experience in a manufacturing or batching environment
- 1--2 years' experience monitoring product quality
- 1--2 years of certified forklift experience
- Strong mathematical skills (percentages, fractions, recipe scaling)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- HACCP/Food Safety experience and GMP knowledge (preferred)
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours per shift
- Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 75 lbs with or without assistance
- Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and ability to manipulate materials
- Ability to detect noises, operate tools and controls, twist, reach, stoop, crouch, and maintain balance while working with co-workers
- Ability to operate Material Handling Equipment
- Strong initiative, ability to anticipate issues proactively
- Sound math and analytical skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
