About the Role

Mayroad is seeking a strategic and collaborative Senior Vice President of Finance & Accounting to lead the company's financial operations and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash management, and business performance oversight across the organization.

The ideal candidate is an experienced finance executive with a proven ability to balance strategic leadership and hands-on execution, leveraging experience in real estate, property management, construction, or military housing/private equity-backed portfolios while fostering strong partnerships across the organization and with key stakeholders.

Job Summary

Corporate leader responsible for the financial operations of the company; evaluates investment and savings opportunities; develops company financial strategies, and KPIs, and oversees the ongoing development and monitoring of the financial system.

Essential Functions

  • Leads, oversees, and directs the Finance and Accounting functions of the company
  • Leads and reviews monthly/quarterly financial reporting
  • Monitors banking information partners and communicates with equity owners to ensure proper and insightful visibility into company operations
  • Conducts thorough monthly reviews of Operating Statements prior to submitting to the CEO, company partners/owners, and other stakeholders, including Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), Harrison Street, and Mayroad lenders; verifies the accuracy of the reports; ensures timely submission; validates all expenses and payments have been recorded and accounted for properly
  • Oversees the Consolidated Budget (Construction, Development, Accounting, HR, Property Management, etc.); establishes timelines; sets financial targets and provides guidance
  • Drives financial planning for the company; leads quarterly forecasting efforts to track and identify trends that may have a significant financial impact on budgets and expenses
  • Oversees the company's cash flow management; owner distributions and intercompany transactions
  • Reviews investment opportunities and strategies to ensure optimal capital allocation
  • Oversees and ensures accuracy of performance incentive fee calculations
  • Tracks financial performance of all departments; identifies variances in budget vs. actual expenditures; provides direction for reconciliation of any discrepancies
  • This position is deemed Key & Essential and, as such, may be required to work onsite beforehand, during, and after any accident, emergency, or disaster in order to best protect and care for our residents and assets.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff, including hiring, scheduling, and assigning work, reviewing performance, and recommends salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.
  • Manages others through subordinate supervisors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 15+ years of progressive finance/accounting leadership
  • Experience leading accounting, FP&A, budgeting, cash management, audits, tax, and internal controls
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership

Preferred

  • CPA
  • MBA or Master's degree
  • Experience in real estate, property management, construction, or military housing/private equity-backed organizations

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Full understanding of organizational resources, priorities, needs, and policies
  • Foundational knowledge of financial principles and budget planning
  • Proactive and able to work autonomously to identify and solve financial challenges from inception to completion
  • Deep knowledge of full life cycle budget planning
  • Advanced experience using supportive analytical applications
  • Proven track record of leading projects with outstanding results
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook
  • Outstanding collaboration and communication skills; strong people and leadership skills; ability to communicate with subordinates, associates, and customers
  • Ability to strongly lead a team of diverse finance professionals working remotely across multiple states and regions
  • Excellent organizational skills; refined attention to detail
  • Professional appearance with the ability to represent the company in meetings with senior civilian and military leaders.


This is a remote position. The employee must be able to work from home with minimal distractions from outside sources (e.g., family, pets, etc.)
