Position Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Remote

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accountant to support the daily and monthly accounting operations of the company. This position will be responsible for accounts payable processing, monthly invoicing, journal entries, expense report processing, and assisting with payroll. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational skills, accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced accounting environment.


Key Responsibilities

The accountant will be responsible for:


  • Processing accounts payable invoices, including reviewing invoices for accuracy, coding expenses to the proper general ledger accounts, and preparing payments.
  • Ensuring accounting transactions are processed timely, accurately, and in accordance with company policies.
  • Reconciling vendor statements and resolving invoice or payment discrepancies.
  • Recording cash receipts, customer billing follow-up, and accounts receivable tracking as needed.
  • Preparing and processing monthly customer invoices in accordance with contract terms and company procedures.
  • Processing employee expense reports, including reviewing receipts, verifying compliance with company policy, and ensuring proper coding.
  • Preparing journal entries as part of the monthly close process.
  • Assisting with payroll processing, including reviewing timesheets, preparing payroll, and supporting payroll-related reconciliations.
  • Assisting with general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Assisting with special projects and other accounting duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate accounting environment.
  • Experience preferably in order of accounts payable, invoicing, expense reports, journal entries, and payroll support.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas, sorting, filtering, and reconciliations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential payroll, employee, vendor, and financial information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Experience using accounting or ERP systems; Deltek Costpoint experience is a plus.



Preferred Skills


  • Deltek Costpoint, Deltek Time & Expense or similar ERP experience.
  • Government contracting accounting experience.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with accounting, payroll, HR, operations, and management teams.
