Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated recent or pending MD and/or PhD graduate to work in a molecular and cellular neuroscience/stem cell lab for disease modeling using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). The ideal candidate will have experience in cell culture, rodents, biochemical, molecular and cellular biological techniques in neuroscience or stem cell biology.

Work Schedule: In-person, 5 days a week, and 40 hours a week.

Duties/Responsibilities:
As a Post-Doctoral Associate, you will work in a molecular and cellular neuroscience/stem cell lab for disease modeling using patient derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). Our research goals are to further our understanding of the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases and to identify novel pathways and targets for the development of therapy. In particular, we are interested in understanding the mechanisms underlying protein misfolding, extracellular vesicles and propagation of disease in neurodegeneration. We use iPSC from patients with Alzheimer's Disease and other types of neurodegenerative diseases as our model system, in additional to genetically modified mice.

The Post-Doctoral Associate will use multi-pronged approach including biochemistry, CRISPR genetic editing, gene expression analysis, mouse genetics, proteomics and imaging. The University of Minnesota provides an excellent environment for stem cell and neurodegeneration research, with the University of Stem Cell Institute and the N. Bud Grossman Center for Memory Research and Care.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Holds a Ph.D.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cell culture.
  • Experience working with rodent models.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $63,480 - $77,076; depending on education/qualifications/experience
