JOB PURPOSE The Visiting Program Administrator, Health and Community Wellness serves as a full-time 12-month academic professional and has the primary responsibility for providing oversight, leadership, and supervision for grant projects and special initiatives within the Center for Food Systems, Nutrition Security, and Health Integration and the broader Health and Community Wellness team at the University of Illinois Extension. This includes providing guidance, support, and direction to staff hired as part of Extension grants and special initiatives related to planning and implementation of statewide and regional programs, and serving as a positive representative for the Center with Extension staff, key stakeholders, and partners to facilitate program objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, public health, community health, family and consumer science, nutrition, human development, or related field. Candidates with a bachelor's degree in progress may be considered for interviews, but degree must be completed by hire date.
- Two (2) years of experience facilitating and guiding the work of teams.
- Experience meeting project goals and deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience with University of Illinois Extension.
- Experience in direct supervision.
- Experience supporting a remote workforce.
- Valid driver's license.
SPECIFIC JOB INFORMATION: Two full-time positions are available. Location: Urbana-Champaign Campus. In state hybrid remote work arrangements are available This is a security-sensitive position. Comprehensive background checks, including but not limited to a criminal conviction information check, a CANTS check, and a review of the Registered Sex Offender list, will be conducted. - Actively recruit and hire staff to fill vacancies in coordination with Center leadership.
- Monitor staff program delivery to support program outreach efforts and deliverables.
- Provide guidance and feedback to staff on performance improvement. This may include going to programming sites and modeling improvement practices for outreach and engagement to partners and participants.
- Participate in and reinforce content from staff trainings.
- Establish feedback mechanisms to gather perspectives, advice, and recommendations related to all aspects of the grant projects or special initiatives. Use information to implement any necessary changes to current programming.
- Provide leadership and assist with marketing Extension outreach efforts and programming to targeted populations, organizations, and agencies, to grow and expand programming efforts.
- Assist staff with gathering program participant demographic information to ensure compliance with civil rights reporting requirements.
- Work with the Center and HCW Leadership team to ensure optimal onboarding, programming, and program support.
Supervision
- Provides supervision of all assigned staff in adherence to University of Illinois Extension/ACES guidelines.
- Provide leadership in coordinating the logistics and activities for program tasks. i.e., travel, equipment, and supplies.
- Meet with the team and individual staff on a regular basis to provide guidance on performance and program implementation.
- Review and approve staff work hours and calendars.
- Monitor and approve program expenses in keeping with the grant and Extension budget guidelines.
Other Information
- Comply with all reporting deadlines and requirements (e.g., plans-of-work, activity, and impact reporting, etc.).
- Perform other duties that contribute to the mission of University of Illinois Extension programming, as assigned.
- Local, regional, statewide, and (limited) interstate travel required.
- When working, the employee may be exposed to a variety of environmental factors to include, but not limited to, hot or cold weather, exposure to noise and allergens, and uneven ground. In performing the functions of this position, the employee may be subjected to various physical demands including ability to move, transfer and/or transport items that may occasionally weigh up to forty (40) pounds and frequently weigh up to twenty (20) pounds, and twisting, pushing and pulling movements.
- To perform the functions of this position, the employee will be required to perform work both within an office and outside in the communities that are served and must have the capability to travel from one location to the other in a timely fashion. Employee is responsible for securing personal transportation. Some work will be required during evenings and/or weekends.

Administrative Relationship The Visiting Program Administrator is administratively responsible to the Visiting Senior Program Lead, Education and Strategic Initiatives. Appointment Information These positions are not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization. These positions are a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure academic professional positions appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. The previously determined salary range for this position was $58,000 to $73,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary while taking into consideration internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a calculation involving these elements. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at the top of the full range for this position.
