Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking a Legal Practice Assistant to support the Legacy Liability Litigation practice group. This position will report to the the Practice Support Manager and will be responsible for providing a broad range of administrative and substantive legal support in an environment where collaboration and exceptional client service is emphasized.

As part of the ML LawPath program, each position is responsible for providing a broad range of administrative and substantive legal support to a specific practice group in an environment where superior client service is emphasized. Legal Practice Assistants are offered a unique learning opportunity through practical working experience and direct exposure and engagement with case teams. They are relied upon to actively support attorneys and other legal support staff in ongoing client matters. ML LawPath endeavors to help Legal Practice Assistants develop a well-rounded skill set and best practices that will foster their success as legal professionals and beyond.

This position will reside in the New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C or Chicago office.

Flexibility with overtime is required and a commitment of two years is expected

Key responsibilities of this position may include:

  • Managing, organizing and maintaining case and client files;

  • Manages case and client information manually and digitally through the use of electronic databases (both internal and external);

  • Coordinating and preparing information, materials, documents, reports, and evidence;

  • Assisting with the drafting, proofreading, editing, and gathering of factual support for internal and external requests;

  • Supporting the development and management of case and practice group timelines;

  • Participates in the research and analysis for mass tort matters

  • Conducting research, fact investigations, and analysis for internal and external requests;

  • Coordinating communication and planning across attorney teams handling multiple client matters;

  • Assists attorneys and team paralegals with the preparation and review of various pleadings, discovery and document production materials;

  • Distributes draft documents to attorneys and team paralegals

  • Participates in fact investigation and research into publicly available documents;

  • Provides administrative support, including, but not limited to, document production, expense forms/paperwork and processing vendor invoices;

  • Drafts and assists in the preparation of meeting minutes;

  • Participates in supervised client communications to exchange information;

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required;

  • 3.5 GPA or higher preferred;

  • One (1) year of combined internship or professional experience preferred;

  • Professional services industry experience a plus;

  • Two-year commitment expected;

  • Ability to be proactive and a self-starter;

  • Ability to think critically and see "big picture" effects;

  • Superior written/verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and within a team environment are a must;

  • Exceptional leadership and organization skills;

  • Proven ability to meet stringent deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and balance multiple tasks while operating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;

  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion;

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint;

  • Flexibility to travel and work evening hours at times as needed.

For positions in New York, NY, the salary range for this position is: $57,900.00 - $92,550.00.

For positions in Washington, DC, the salary range for this position is: $55,500.00 - $88,800.00.

For positions in Chicago, IL, the salary range for this position is: $53,200.00 - $85,150.00.
